When to use these tools

  • Estimate sheet count for a bedroom, office, garage wall, or ceiling project.
  • Compare 4 x 8, 4 x 10, and 4 x 12 sheet sizes.
  • Create a planning estimate before laying out seams and openings.

Common inputs

  • Room width, room length, and wall height.
  • Sheet size and whether the ceiling is included.
  • Waste factor for cuts, damaged sheets, and layout constraints.

FAQ

Does the drywall calculator include mud and tape?

No. It estimates sheet quantity only. Joint compound, tape, screws, corner bead, and finishing supplies are separate.

Why can the estimate be conservative?

The calculator rounds up sheet count and then applies waste, which can slightly overestimate small rooms.
