About HomeMaterialCalc

HomeMaterialCalc is a lightweight static tool site for estimating primary material quantities for common DIY home projects.

How the calculators work

Each calculator uses simple browser-side formulas based on the dimensions and assumptions shown on the page. Results update locally as you edit inputs. Project dimensions are not uploaded, stored, or tied to an account.

Who builds and maintains this site

HomeMaterialCalc is built and maintained by Arthur Weng. The aim is simple, transparent material estimates: every calculator uses standard, published estimation formulas, shows its assumptions, and lets you adjust waste factors and unit sizes so you can check the math yourself.

Calculators and reference charts are reviewed against common manufacturer coverage figures (for example, 350 sq ft per gallon for paint, and 27 cubic feet per cubic yard for bulk materials). Results are planning estimates only — always confirm against product labels, package coverage, and local requirements before buying or installing.

What the site does not do

  • No ecommerce scraping or store-specific pricing.
  • No live material prices, local labor rates, delivery fees, or contractor quotes.
  • No accounts, database, file uploads, or server-side calculator processing.
  • No building-code guidance, structural design, permit advice, or professional advice.

Using estimates responsibly

Treat every result as a planning estimate for the primary material shown by the calculator. Before buying or installing materials, check product labels, package coverage, manufacturer instructions, waste needs, local requirements, and qualified professionals for structural or safety-critical work.
